‘Siri’ous Artificial Intelligence in Mobile Apps

Now that Artificial Intelligence is virtually in the palm of your hand (smartphone), we begin the struggle to come-to grips with it. In the recent past a mention of AI conjured mental images of sentient robots of popular movies, but today these images include medical possibilities or innovational challenges.

The evolution of AI is always a process that requires constant attention, and rightly so. But for Artificial Intelligence to produce its jaw-dropping out-comes, enormous amounts of data are required. So over the past few years it’s been busy collecting it from any and all possible sources. One of those sources being the iPhone.

Start-up companies have already emerged that leverage the availability of this storage of data on cloud servers. This data has opened doors for more creative apps based in AI. But what about privacy? Today, 90% of this mass of global data has been generated in the past two years alone, but privacy has not been translated over into these apps.

Mobile generation(s) have eagerly surrendered their personal data to AI, in hopes of increased convenience and personalization (an action they later regret). Market reports are estimating the AI industry to be worth $42 billion by the end of 2015.

AI also infers a future employment shift with Information Technology leading the way.

Predictions indicate exciting times for the Tech-Savvy but cloudy times for the Non-Tech-Savvy. History has shown us, it’s going to be imperative to be on the correct side of the Digital Divide for all generations in the future.

Let’s begin a process to make the term ‘Digital Divide’ obsolete by making everyone equal, at least where knowledge of Mobile Device Technology is concerned.

‘Master Level High-Tech Webinars’ Launch

Sacramento, CA. 07/01/2015 – Social City Net is launching this crowdfunding campaign on Indigogo.com to fund a hybrid webinar service. This platform was designed to help people learn how to fully utilize their mobile device. Senior citizens, in particular, will learn to access the full potential of their devices and all the benefits our program can provide.

In our ultra-efficient society, mobile devices have become less of a luxury and more of a necessity. We use apps and mobile devices to do everything from booking flights to scheduling fitness classes. So, isn’t it sad to know that nearly half the people with these devices don’t know how to properly use them? And when all is said and done, many people could be in actual danger when a natural disaster hits and they don’t know how to execute the apps on their phone. This lack of knowledge is so prevalent that a phrase has been coined—Digital Divide. This term refers to the social and economic split between those who have the knowledge, skills, and ability to access technology, and those who don’t.

More than 70% of those who died during Hurricane Katrina were seniors and many who survived did not get proper medical treatment because health records were lost to the storm. Knowing how to properly use mobile devices would have made a huge difference in this instance …before, during and after.

The age of modern learning has arrived and Social City Net seeks to be at the forefront of this interactive digital era. Our business is creating webinars. A comprehensive webinar is designed for each mobile device and scheduled on our website at www.socialcitynet.com. Details of the webinar and classes are available on the scheduling page for each device. Our goal is to empower seniors and non-tech savvy mobile users in a user-friendly environment.

Galaxy ‘Class’ Note 5 Edge

Galaxy ‘Class’ Note 5 Edge Concept Emerges

Concepts inherently reflect a certain mindset and market positioning aspect of the product and its company. The Galaxy Note 5 concept has chosen a confident but calm introduction instead of a continuation of daring to be different and maintain a similar design to the Galaxy S6. Credit for the design goes Ivo Maric.

But after noting the similar design an interesting feature of this concept is the completely different camera, possibly in response to an iPhone 7 upgrade.

Last year the Galaxy Note Edge was released as a companion to the Galaxy Note 4, what will be Samsung’s strategy with the Note 5 introduction? The emergence of this concept is possibly a testing of the market to make note of reaction.

Success of Galaxy Note 5 Edge is critical for Samsung as Apple is outselling them in pure volume and Samsung profits plummeted by 60%. Apple, on the other hand, has been more profitable and Samsung has not been able to counter. This all results in Samsung being less bullish than in early 2014.

With powerful new processors & Quantum computing about to change the face of technology. Both mobile mammoths wait on new component innovation that will result from the emergence of these two game-changers, so it’s ‘Miller-Time’ at the moment.

It’s time to realize, tomorrow’s high-tech devices will require assistance when learning to use them (as if they don’t now).

Enrico Fermi Students

Senior Citizens Recognize Enrico Fermi Students

Students at Enrico Fermi High School in Connecticut are helping senior citizens master technology. Members of the schools National Honor Society visit the Enfield Senior Center every Thursday from 3 to 5pm and tutor seniors with computers, tablets and smartphones.

Claire Thomas is an Enfield senior, being tutored by Afua Boadu-Ansah a junior, said “This iPad has just sat around for a long time, I didn’t know how to do anything.” She wanted to learn how email works to stay in touch with her hospitalized son and also realizes she needs to stay current with technology.

Evelyn Fitzgerald is another senior citizen trying to use technology for staying in touch with family. She had recently purchased her first cell phone but has had trouble using it.

Though you may hear of venues where senior citizens can get help with technology, there are millions in need of this type of assistance. The needs of the many far out-weigh the few that are helping in this situation. This issue is serious but for some reason the media seems to down-play its impact on Not-So-Tech-Savvy individuals.

Our campaign intends to provide serious help for this hidden issue and do our best to make the situation broadly known. We believe that with Social City Net, we will be able to make a change in society, and make everyone equal, at least where knowledge of mobile devices are concerned.
