About half the American adult population owns a smartphone and by 2020 it’s expected to be more like 80%. This device has become an integral part of human evolution in our global society. As such a natural selection of technology has only recently been noticed. Your mobile device(s) of choice say a lot about you and the season of life.
Sometimes you’re focused on your smartphone and being productive while on the go, when an ad totally interrupts you? Making it worse this untimely ad is completely irrelevant. Studies indicate Smartphone users are less likely to click on a mobile ad than Tablet users.
Season of life –are you Spring age 16-29, Summer age 30-49, Fall age 50-64 or Winter age 65+. Each of these seasons has their own behaviors, habits and preferences which is being reflected in their mobile device selection. Marketers actually use this in reverse -- the device users choose will tend to shape their behaviors.
Askmen.com says: iPhone 4 users fashion themselves a creative type, knows what’s cool and doesn’t want anyone to see them sweat; while Android users are quite comfortable wearing T-shirts labeled “wiki ninja” underneath a blazer attending an interactive festival.
But as our seasons change, so do our mobile preferences. In spring we are content with the convenience of a smartphone, but in late spring early summer we want more and synchronize a tablet with the phone. As summer moves into fall the tablet becomes a laptop and in the winter choices become the convenience of a tablet and foundation of a personal computer.
