The Motorola Luxury Smartphone concept by designer Faisal Semari, is actually a refined format the designer was experimenting with in a previous award winning concept phone (Just in case you’re like me, and have a bit of Deja-vu).
There is not much information on its specifications, but this device is made of a luxurious material and it’s able to adapt the screen color to the whole chassis and make the display even ore seamless, when it’s off. I can’t exactly say what materials are used here, but I envision some sort of new alloy, both comfy to hold and precious, but also resilient to stress.
The way Motorola’s logo is embedded within the bottom front reminds me of the way a Mercedes emblem sticks out from the front of the car. The pebble form factor is supposed to give the handset a smooth fit in the palm of your hand and also be comfy next to your ear.
One aspect of this creation is also rumored about Apple’s next introduction, the smaller smartphone. Ever vocal, Apple customers say they don’t want a phone that doesn’t fit into their pocket. So it appears a smaller size in smartphones may become a trend despite analysts saying larger screens are the way to market growth.
Current Motorola designs are not showing any indication of going smaller, which indicates this concept may not get serious consideration even though it does have very good eye appeal.
As far as a trend toward smaller pocket size smartphones, we’ll have to wait and see if it really takes hold.
