Just as some people had mixed feelings about iPhone 7 inspired by iPad Pro, it’s a sure bet this Surface Smartphone inspiration by Surface Book will also attract some mixed reactions. But you must respect the quality here.
This creation is by the Verge user Mr. Mulderfox, the flexible handset has a flexible touchscreen that can roll into a “silo”. A part of this flexible screen is hidden within the body and can be extended in and out. It also has a Smart Pen holder, which can be used as an extra power bank and for a better grip of the phone when in tablet configuration.
The designer envisioned a “post tension electromagnetic cable” that strengthens the screen as it is extended to full deployment. In a normal smartphone configuration, the device measures 145 x 75 mm, while in tablet mode it measures 203 x 140 mm. it also comes in an XL version which measures 165 x 85 mm when in smartphone mode and having the same dimensions as the iPad Air in tablet mode.
To make foldable display’s a reality manufacturer must overcome two main obstacles. The first is obvious, components under the display must accommodate flexing of the screen. The second is fatigue and high stress within the foldable part.
The designer calls this the Surface Book Phone, but whatever you can call it this is a very nice piece of work.
