When HTC introduced the ‘One M8’ they hit the mark big, so rather than re-invent the wheel the HTC M9 is an enhanced version of M8. But these are some serious enhancements beginning with boosting the maligned 4MP ultrapixel sensor to a 20.7MP option. Refined their powerful BoomSound by teaming with Dolby and even increased battery capacity after struggling with power in the M8. They are also charging you for these enhancements with a $649 price tag without subsidy.
Under the hood they’ve kept the microSD slot for extra memory, and boosted the internal to 32GB addressing low memory issues. Other hardware includes an octa-core Qualcomm 810 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 2840 mAh battery and a Super LCD3 screen. It can’t match Samsung’s Super AMOLED display, but delivers a color rich experience.
This is a finely crafted phone with its two-tone “jewelry-grade” and crafted finish. The author said “I’d definitely chuck it in a case though. After two days I’d already dented the bottom through it falling a foot onto the floor, and those nicks are really noticeable on the premium casing.”
